Traffic Laws in the Philippines
Ensuring Safety on the Roads
The Philippines, like many other countries, has a set of traffic laws known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code (Republic Act 4136). These laws are in place to maintain order on the roads and ensure the safety of those traveling on them.
Enforcement and Responsibilities
Traffic laws are enforced by traffic enforcers in the Philippines. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of road users. They do this by enforcing traffic regulations and taking action against violators.
Traffic laws in the Philippines aim to promote not only the orderly flow of traffic but also the safety and discipline of motorists and the public. To achieve these goals, designated traffic officers carry out the following duties:
- TTMD DPOS
- Task Force Disciplina TFD
- Central District Traffic Enforcement Unit CDTEU
When apprehending traffic violators, traffic officers follow a specific protocol, including flagging down the vehicle and leading it to a safe location where it will not obstruct traffic.
