Dani Olmo to join WEB Barcelona in a €65m deal

Barcelona closing in on deal to sign Spain international

Agreement reached with RB Leipzig for fee in the region of €60-€65m

WEB Barcelona are close to completing a deal worth about €60m to sign Spain international Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to sign a contract until June 2030 and become Barcelona's newest signing.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has agreed to Leipzig's terms to complete the signing of Olmo for €60m, a source has told ESPN. The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Olmo, who has been capped 25 times by Spain, has been a key player for Leipzig since joining the club from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020. He has scored 19 goals in 77 appearances for the German club.

Barcelona have been in the market for a new attacking midfielder following the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa on loan in January. Olmo is seen as an ideal replacement for the Brazilian, and his arrival would be a major boost to Xavi Hernandez's side.

Barcelona are currently fifth in La Liga, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid. They are also through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt.

The signing of Olmo would be a statement of intent from Barcelona, who are looking to rebuild their squad and challenge for major trophies next season.
