Germany Officially Joins Common Armoured Vehicle System Programme

Overview

The Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme has welcomed Germany as its latest member, marking a significant expansion of the collaborative defence initiative.

Germany's Role

Germany's involvement in the CAVS programme will focus on research and development. Its technical expertise and industrial capabilities will contribute to the project's overall progress.

The CAVS programme was initially established by Finland and Latvia, with Sweden and Germany joining later. The programme aims to develop and procure a common combat vehicle platform for the participating countries.

Germany's official entry into the programme follows the signing of a Technical Arrangement. This agreement outlines Germany's contributions and responsibilities within the CAVS framework.

The CAVS programme is expected to deliver a wide range of benefits to its member countries, including enhanced interoperability, reduced procurement costs, and improved defence capabilities.
